Labstep (now part of Starlims) is looking for an experienced Backend Engineer. The ideal candidate should have experience in scaling applications and a great working knowledge of Symfony and AWS, be highly autonomous and love working in a fast paced environment.

Labstep is the go-to research tool for scientists. Founded on the shortcomings of paper notebooks and existing lab software, Labstep takes away the manual and time-consuming aspects of note-taking and data governance. Focusing on ease of use, Labstep’s flexible R&D cloud platform aims to help accelerate more groundbreaking discoveries and life-changing technologies.

We have a rapidly expanding customer base, with customers from academic institutions, growing start-ups, and large biotech companies around the world, from industries that include Alternative Proteins, Biotech, Agritech, Pharma, Renewables & Energy and Material Sciences.

General Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with other engineers to develop new features.
• Write tests.
• Implement the necessary measures to ensure code security and robustness.
• Monitor application performance and suggest improvements.
• Enhance our CI/CD pipeline.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of industry experience developing scalable applications.
• Experience with PHP and Symfony.
• Experience with AWS and IaC.
• Strong design and architecture skills.
• Strong grasp of software engineering best practices, including agile development, unit testing, code reviews, design documentation, debugging, and troubleshooting.
